What Ridge does, and does well

Watch-first navigation

Big numbers, one accent colour, no menu spelunking. Always-on and dimmed between glances, with a single haptic the moment you drift off the trace.

Notes that tap your wrist

Pin a note to any point on a route - "last water before the crête", "left fork is a dead end". It buzzes your Watch as you approach.

Your old runs, rescued Pro

Import a past outing from Apple Fitness or Strava and turn it into a GPX route. That ridge line you improvised last summer becomes a route you can navigate again.

Powered by Strava

Atlas - all your traces on one map

Every route and activity you own, clustered wherever you ran them. Zoom into Annecy and your whole history is there; zoom out and see the massifs you haven’t touched yet.

Read the climbs before you run them Pro

The elevation profile and the trace on the map are coloured by gradient. A glance tells you where the wall is - not just that there’s 1 142 m of it somewhere.

IGN maps in your pocket, off the network Pro

Download a route’s map before you leave. Deep in a valley, with no data and no phone, the map stays drawn under your trace.

Draw your own route Pro

Tap points on the map: the route follows the trails, or runs in a straight line where there are none. Any route edits the same way, imported GPX files included.

Discover - hikes ready to go

A tab of hikes in France, with photos, distance, elevation gain and high point. Add one to your routes and it is on your Watch.

From a share sheet to your wrist

A GPX from mail, Files or a friend opens straight into Ridge and syncs to the Watch. No cable, no export step, no web account in the middle.

Free is enough for most. Pro when you go further

Unlimited routes, full navigation on the wrist, notes and your whole history, with no account and no time limit. Pro is for the day you head off-network, or want to draw and edit your own routes. By the month, by the year, or once and for all.

Frequent questions

Why not just use Garmin Connect with an Apple Watch?
Garmin Connect is built around Garmin watches - its iOS app has no Live Activity and no Dynamic Island. Ridge was designed for Apple Watch from the first sketch: a route goes from a share sheet to your wrist in about thirty seconds, and the run lives on the watch from there.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Once a route is on your Watch, following the trace, off-route alerts, notes and recording all run offline - no data, no phone needed. Pro adds IGN maps, downloaded ahead of time, so the map itself stays drawn when you’re deep in a valley. Read the guide
Is Pro a subscription?
Your call. Pro is $2.99 a month or $14.99 a year, with the first 7 days free on the yearly - cancel any time from your Apple ID, like any App Store subscription. If you would rather never think about it again, $29.99 once unlocks Pro for good. All three come with Family Sharing, so one purchase covers the household.
Do I need an account?
No. Your routes, notes and activity history live on your devices, and everything works without signing in. A Ridge account exists, optional, for one thing only: leaving a review on a Discover hike. Apple Fitness import reads your workouts straight from Apple Health on the phone. Connecting Strava is optional, and only happens if you ask for it.
Which Watch and iPhone do I need?
An iPhone running iOS 26.1 or later, and an Apple Watch Series 6 or later on watchOS 26. The Dynamic Island needs an iPhone 14 Pro or newer.
Can the Watch follow a route without the iPhone?
Yes. The iPhone is needed once, to receive the GPX and send it to the Watch. From then on the Watch navigates, alerts and records on its own; the phone can stay in the car. No cellular plan required - sync goes over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Read the guide
How do I share a route with a friend?
Tap Share on the route: Ridge sends a link. Whoever gets it opens the route in Ridge, identical to the metre, with your notes, and adds it to their routes in one tap. Without Ridge, the link opens a page with the map, the profile and the GPX file. The route travels inside the link itself: nothing is stored on a server.
Does Ridge work outside France?
Navigation, alerts and notes work anywhere in the world. Offline maps are a Pro feature: in France they are the IGN topographic map; elsewhere, a worldwide topographic map with contour lines. Read the guide
